Do You Mean What You Say And Say What You Mean?

2013-10-29 Speak ClearlyNugget: “Executive ability is deciding quickly and getting somebody else to do the work.”~ John G. Pollard

Reflection drill:  Speak Clearly — Listen Carefully — Confirm Messages.

If you’re not satisfied with what you’re getting, be more specific with what you’re asking.

Why it matters: The more precisely you articulate what you want, the more likely you are to get it. Vague requests give rise to vague responses.

Thinking drill:

How often do you have trouble getting back exactly what you asked for?

When do you find it the hardest to be specific with your requests? Why?

Were there any misunderstandings this week that more precise communication would have prevented?

What’s your take away?
